Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is the leading global manufacturer of healthcare products and systems for chronic respiratory care. I joined F&P in late 2020 as part of their Internship program. I thrived in this technical industry, navigating a business to business market which targets physicians and hospitals. I joined the Blunt team as a recent graduate on a fixed-term contract to assist on new product development. I worked directly with the founder and engineer Greig Brebner to guide engineering efforts toward a successful industrial design direction, focusing on consumer aesthetics. Working across the early stages of development this was a highly conceptual position, completing market research, engaging with suppliers and performing physical prototyping.

Research Assistant, Mar 20 - Jun 20
Over New Zealand’s COVID-19 lockdown period in 2020, I worked within a multidisciplinary team to develop a consumer healthcare product to protect essential workers from COVID-19. I was selected as a Research Assistant through the Industrial Design programme at Victoria University of Wellington. The project resulted in an integrated arm band wearable device. My role involved developing a market viable design direction, creating soft goods prototypes for ergonomic testing, and creating CAD mockups for concept visualisation.
It has been exciting to see the product reach consumer trials in New Zealand, as it continues to be developed independently by Professor Anthony Phillips and the engineering team at inFact in Christchurch. https://www.elbaware.nz/home
